Since being founded in 1889 Popp & Kretschmer - which has always occupied the same location - has enjoyed a reputation as one of Vienna's leading purveyors of leather goods and travel accessories.
Moreover, our range has always included the traditional 'Viennese Bronzes' that continue to embody the skill and fine art involved in this traditional handicraft. Despite the company's outstanding reputation, not to mention the odd innovation -- such as Vienna's first neon advertising, Popp & Kretschmer went through some financial difficulties in the early seventies; dividing stakes in the company up among several shareholder families didn't help in this respect.
In 1975 the company was going through the worst period in its history before the present owner was able to obtain successive stakes in the company, thus bringing all shareholdings under one roof for the first time in the company's history.The following years saw the expansion of our range to include ladieswear -- now accounting for the bulk of our turnover -- shoes and accessories. This fundamental change has been accompanied by constant expansion of the sales floor. Over the same period the number of staff has risen from three to its present average of eighteen.

Right in the heart of Vienna at the top end of the pedestrian precinct that runs along Kärntnerstraße opposite the Viennese State Opera and a mere stone's throw away from the world-famous "Hotel Sacher".
